Shoalhaven Capacity Building

Not-for-profits in the Shoalhaven LGA will benefit from an enhanced IRCF program thanks to a partnership with the Australian Government, through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Program.

The additional investment means that even more of the ideas and initiatives identified through the IRCF program can be implemented. Excitingly, the funding has also allowed the expansion of the IRCF program to both Kangaroo Valley and Lake Conjola within the Nowra and Ulladulla cohorts respectively.

Through the Shoalhaven extension to the IRCF program we will also be delivering the Regenerate Shoalhaven Leadership Program to be delivered by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. Complementing the collaborative nature of the IRCF program, the Regenerate Leadership Program will provide local leaders with essential skills to collaborate and help the community to become resilient to and recover from natural disasters.

The funding has enabled the employment of additional facilitator support in Bay & Basin, Nowra and Ulladulla, including a First Nation Community Facilitator. Throughout the IRCF communities, the role of community facilitator has been identified as one of the most integral components of the program. With the Shoalhaven program extension, we have been able to ensure that NFPs continue to benefit from the connection, knowledge and support that the facilitator role provides.

Through this funding, we will be able to support even more collaborative projects to be rolled out across the LGA. Through this funding facilitators have been able to identify collaborative capacity building opportunities to coordinate additional opportunities for the NFP sector.
