Junee & District Historical Society

Founded in 1972, the Junee and District Historical Society Inc has the mission of recording and sharing the story of the people who made Junee what it is today. Housed in the historic former Broadway Hotel, a collection of documents is maintained to assist people with historical and family research, which can be made available to researchers.

IRCF Startup Grant Round

Supported with $1,500 to preserve local history and increase organisational capacity through the purchase of IT infrastructure.

The organisation reflects on the impact of this project:

“It has reinvigorated the museum and it has created quite a buzz around the place.
The computer program has exceeded our expectations and has done a really good job.
We now have a lovely environment where volunteers are happy to come down and do some work.
The flow on from what we are doing is that the museum is a better place.
When the community comes in, they are getting a really good look at Junee’s history.
Plus, we are getting new volunteers come in. We have increased our volunteers by about 30%.
The museum has a future now and it’s going to march ahead.”
