StoryFest Inc
StoryFest is a community-driven organisation conceived by local author Meredith Jaffé and former President of the Friends of Milton Library, Alison Pakes. The Milton-Mollymook-Ulladulla area is renowned for its natural beauty, vibrant foodie scene, and its passion for the arts. It is home to a popular visual art festival and numerous community theatre and music groups, however none focused on story. StoryFest’s core artistic objective is to provide a platform for local storytellers and to encourage renowned Australian storytellers to the area in an annual celebration of story. Another key objective is to inspire creative expression amongst the Shoalhaven region’s residents via an annual storytelling competition. The week-long Schools Program brings artists to engage with approximately 2,800 primary and secondary students in the local district. This includes group presentations plus hands-on workshops designed to foster and build students’ artistic confidence and practice.
